"Instantaneous switching" and "sliding" mechanisms meet
your needs

In order to meet the diverse needs of our customers, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of the basic mechanism when considering its implementation.
OMRON’s detection switches have two main types of basic mechanisms, each of which has a wide lineup of series.
This allows you to select the product that best suits your needs.

At first glance, these two detection switches appear to be the same.
However, their internal structures and characteristics are completely different.

Snap-action type with instantaneous contact switching

This type uses the spring reaction force and has a mechanism that instantly switches the contact point when the movable part is pushed into a certain position.

Before operation

The reaction force of the movable spring is applied upward.

After operation

When the push button is pressed, the movable part bends, and when it reaches a certain position, the reaction force of the movable spring instantly switches downward.

Characteristics

  • Reliable operation at a fixed stroke position
  • Less contact wear due to short arcing time
  • Clearly perceptible sound and feel during operation

Application example

  • Mouse

Sliding contact type with sliding contacts

This type has a mechanism in which the movable contact slides to make contact with the fixed contact.

Before operation

The moving contact is placed on an insulator

After operation

The movable contact moves downward and touches the fixed contact to make a connection.

The contact moves Wiping also scrapes out the foreign objects.

Characteristics

  • Few mechanical design constraints due to long stroke
  • Stable contact and microcurrent switching achieved by wiping action
  • Quiet operation

Application examples (where small size and environmental resistance are required)

  • AMR
  • Door lock
  • Door mirror folding/
    unfolding
