OMRON Receives Top 100 Global Innovators 2023
Information
Ranking among the top 100 companies at the pinnacle of the global innovation ecosystem for the seventh straight year
OMRON Corporation announced today that it has been selected as one of the Top 100 Global Innovators 2023 by Clarivate, ranking among the top 100 companies at the pinnacle of the global innovation ecosystem. This is the eighth award in seven consecutive years.
Clarivate selects the Top 100 Global Innovators based on their proprietary patent data. This global information service firm analyzes intellectual property trends using an independent index in order to identify the world’s most innovative corporations and research institutions, thereafter recognizing them for their outstanding traits. The evaluation of this award is based on a twin-track approach. The first track focuses on identifying innovating organizations that pass qualification criteria based on the volume of inventive activity: 500 published inventions since 2000 and 100 granted inventions during the past five years. They then compare innovators based on the proportion and level of international inventions (ideas patented in more than one country or region), creating an international innovator weighting factor. The second track scores inventions on four factors: Influence, Success, Globalization, and Technical distinctiveness. Based on this evaluation methodology, the Top 100 Global Innovators 2023 list recognizes the 100 most exceptional innovators. Among these criteria, OMRON was rated particularly high for Influence and Globalization.
As part of the enhancement of “technology management,” OMRON established the Innovation Exploring Initiative Headquarters in March 2018 and OMRON SINIC X Corporation, a subsidiary that designs the near future, in April of the same year. A company-wide innovation platform, the Innovation Exploring Initiative Headquarters is responsible for making the process of creating innovation driven by social needs for our organizational knowledge and strengthening the capacity to create new value. OMRON SINIC X Corporation is accelerating the creation of near-future design while acquiring cutting-edge technologies and intellectual properties through all-out open innovation and presenting research papers at premier international conferences. In addition, the Technology and Intellectual Property Headquarters has mapped out an intellectual property strategy linked to business and R&D strategies to utilize their intellectual property in business based on the OMRON Principles, thus promoting intellectual property activities in the global arena through the integration of business, technology, and intellectual property.
