OMRON listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 6th straight year

Press release

OMRON Corporation (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; President and CEO: Yoshihito Yamada) has been listed for the 6th straight year on the globally recognized Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), an SRI (socially responsible investment)* stock price index.

The DJSI is a stock price index compiled by S&P Dow Jones Indices. It is used to assess the sustainability of the world’s major companies from environmental, social, and governance & economic dimensions.

Of the 3,560 globally prominent companies evaluated in 2022, 332 companies (36 Japanese companies) were selected for the DJSI World. OMRON was also listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for the 13th consecutive year.

This time again, OMRON was rated highly across the board for environmental, social, and governance & economic dimensions criteria. In particular, we were at the top of the list among sector peer companies in the governance & economic dimension.

We believe that this honorable recognition is attributable to the fact that we ensure the long-term material sustainability issues (materiality) identified for our long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030 (SF2030), which was kicked off in April 2022, are fully integrated within business operations.

Also contributing to these solid results are our sustainability initiatives for SF2030 through the practice of the OMRON Principles, including management’s firm commitment to combat climate change and observe the principles on business and human rights, strengthening human capital under the concept of diversity & inclusion (D&I), and enhancing information security. We will continue to promote disclosure by bolstering engagement with stakeholders.

Under SF2030, OMRON seeks to maximize its corporate value by creating social and economic value. To this end, we will work to solve social issues through our business to achieve sustainable development of society and sustainable growth of the company.

*Sustainable investment is a method by which investors consider a company's environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) information, in addition to conventional financial analysis, in order to choose companies that can attain sustainable growth to invest in.
