Green refrigerant compatible B: Contribution to decarbonization of customers' products Power relays
(IEC/EN 60079-15 compliant products)G5NB, G2RL, G5Q, G5PZ

DMS contributes to ensuring the safety of
air-conditioning equipment that uses
"green refrigerants", which are
expected to become more

widespread in
the future.

G5NB

Some of the refrigerants used in air-conditioning equipment have a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of more than 1000, where CO2 is 1. If these refrigerants leak into the atmosphere in cases of equipment failures or disposal, they have a negative impact on global warming. Therefore, the current focus is on "green refrigerants" that have less impact on global warming. However, many green refrigerants are flammable, and it is necessary to eliminate the risk of ignition and ensure the safety of equipment. General relays can be a source of ignition due to phenomena such as arcing when opening and closing contacts.

Global Warming Potential* of refrigerant*

* Global Warming Potential (GWP): Indicates how many more times the greenhouse effect of the refrigerant in question is than that of CO2.

[The value DMS provides]

  • Conforming to IEC/EN 60079-15:Explosive atmospheres - Part 15. Can be used to ensure the safety of air conditioning equipment such as air-conditioners and heat pumps.

(IEC/EN) 60079-15 compliant products

The compliant relays have been tested to meet the standard of (IEC/EN) 60079-15: Explosive atmospheres – Part 15 and confirmed to be nonflammable. Therefore, such relays are not considered an ignition source because they meet the standard for air-conditioners and heat pumps, IEC 60335-2-40.
