Relays that operate stably even with reduced coil power consumption contribute to energy savings

Renewable energies are necessary to realize a decarbonized society. The widespread use of these power generation devices and the use of DC energy are being introduced into general household and industrial applications.
Along with such trends, relays are required to have higher capacity as the capacity of devices increases, but this requires larger switching capability, which in turn increases the power consumption of the coil.
OMRON contributes to the realization of a decarbonized society by achieving both low power consumption and higher capacity switching of relay coils through its unique design.

Reasons why coil power consumption increases

(1)As the capacity of devices increase, the relays used are required to control high voltages and large currents (high capacity). (2)The size of relays increases due to higher capacity because the contact point becomes larger and the physical space (insulation) distance must be taken to allow voltage interruption when the contact point is opened. (3)Driving a large relay requires a strong spring and powerful magnetic force. (4)Therefore, the amount of coil power consumption is an issue to be solved in high-capacity relays.

Allows current to flow only when switching ON/OFF.
