Answer
In surface mount device Photomicrosensors(photointerrupters), Omron has 10 models of transmissive (slot) type and 2 models of reflective type.
Explanation
As the miniaturization of electronic components accelerates along with the shift to mobile devices, demand for surface mount components is also increasing. Omron is enhancing its lineup of surface mount device (SMD) type Photomicrosensors for each sensing distance. In addition to phototransistor output, Omron offers photo IC output, which is useful for high-speed disk rotation detection, and 2-channel type, which is useful for encoder applications (see figure below). For details, see the datasheet of each Photomicrosensors.

Quick tips
The photo IC output type (3 kHz or higher) is recommended for applications where a fast response sensor is required, such as counting high-speed rotating disks.
For SMD type, EE-SX4320, EE-SX3340/4340, and EE-SX3350/4450 are available based on the slot width. In the phototransistor output type, the load resistance value is set from the lower limit of the assumed light current (IL). If this resistance value is large, the response speed becomes slow. Refer to “Response time – load resistance characteristics.” The photo IC output type is easy to design because there is no need to consider this.
