QWhat is the communication protocol for the weather sensor?

AThe Omron Weather Sensor currently uses an RS232C serial communication for weather data transfer. The sensor is compatible with the KS Technologies LoRa module (KST5421-US915), and is able to function with converters onto other communication modules (such as RS485 communication). In the future, be on the lookout for additional versions that are able to work on other networks!

QIs Omron able to provide the individual sensing components directly?

ACurrently, the Weather Sensor is an all-in-one component, without the possibility of using any of the sensing components individually. For additional sensing needs, however, please visit components.omron.com to learn about our other component offerings. We provide sensors for thermal IR sensing, airflow, pressure, as well as switches, connectors, and relays.

QWhat is the maintenance protocol for the weather sensor?

AThe Omron Weather Sensor is a solid state solution, including all sensors contained in a singular housing. The sleek design of the sensor is designed with minimal maintenance in mind, so there is less need for regular checks on equipment. The sensor also uses optical and ultrasonic sensors for rain and wind, eliminating moving parts in the sensor design.

QIs the Weather Sensor able to transfer data in remote areas?

AYes, low power capabilities of the sensor allow for the device to work with most long distance and communication protocols. Omron’s small data transfer package allows capability of working with several different communication methods that can cover a wide range for data transfer.

AYes, the low power requirements of the Omron Weather Sensor allow it to function powered by most conventional solar panel setups.
