What is B5T-007003 (HVC), Specialized for Human Body Detection?

HVC (Human Vision Component) is a sensor module equipped with a miniature camera that enables various types of human detection, but B5T-007003 is specifically designed to detect human bodies. Despite being small, it has a built-in algorithm that enables high-speed processing and accurately detects human bodies.

Detection processing is possible on the sensor module side (edge) (no cloud processing required). Security can be enhanced because there is no need to upload images to a network (such as the cloud) and process data.

There are various detection methods for detecting human bodies, such as image camera method, thermal method, and infrared sensor method. However, each method has its advantages and disadvantages, such as being expensive and difficult to implement, difficulty in distinguishing between humans and objects, and inability to accurately detect humans, limiting their practical application.
OMRON's human body-specific miniature camera module (B5T-007003) eliminates the barriers to adoption that often arise with other sensors, contributing to the creation of safe and secure manufacturing sites.

Issue 01:Image sensor method
  • A person wearing special work clothes (such as a clean suit) that make it difficult to recognize his or her characteristics cannot be detected.
  • It is relatively expensive, making it difficult to install multiple units, which may result in blind spots.
Issue 02:Thermal method
  • It is difficult to distinguish between the heat source of a robot or a machine and that of a human, resulting in false detection.
Issue 03:Infrared sensor method
  • Because the presence or absence of objects is detected by light reflection, there is a possibility of false detection of machines such as mobile robots. In addition, although it is possible to detect objects passing through, it is not possible to detect objects remaining in the danger area.
Solutions with OMRON Sensor (B5T-007003)
With OMRON sensor method! Highly accurate detection is possible even with special work clothes and from a look-down angle. Machines are not detected. Only humans can be detected reliably. Multiple units can be installed at a relatively low cost.
