Development / Design Safety & Security / Energy Saving
Replacing contactors with relays contributes to smaller size, lighter weight, man-hour saving, and energy saving.

As efforts to achieve carbon neutrality are being promoted, there is a demand for PCB power relays that can handle the increasing capacity of power supply systems such as ESS. Many of the high-capacity relays are intended for such power supply systems.
However, it is also possible to replace general-purpose contactors with high-capacity relays, providing customers with various benefits. OMRON’s relays contribute to size reduction, work efficiency, and quality improvement of existing industrial facilities and equipment by replacing contactors.

Three benefits of replacing contactors with relays

1Size and weight reduction

Reduces size and weight by several tens of percent *1

3-circuit switching type contactor: 1 unit => Relay: 3 units (Significantly reduced size and weight)

2Man-hour saving

Fewer connections by adopting board wiring

When 2 contactors are installed:Electric wire: 9 wires, Screw fixing: 12 points => When 6 relays are installed: Electric wire: 6 wires, Screw fixing: 6 points. Eliminates the need for hard-to-connect thick wires.

3Energy saving

Reduces coil power consumption with holding voltage drive

OMRON’s high-capacity PCB power relays are recommended to
replace contactors.
