Answer
Refer to Explanation for cleaning built-in type Photomicrosensors.
Explanation
Most built-in type Photomicrosensors can be cleaned with the some limitations; however, actuator models (e.g. EE-SA105) cannot be cleaned because flux residue may affect sliding performance.
- Types of detergents
Most Photomicrosensors use polycarbonate as the housing material, and depending on the type of solvent, the housing may melt or crack. Use the following check results by Omron as a guide to fully evaluate the product for external abnormalities (e.g. melting and cracking) after cleaning.
Select and use cleaning agents in compliance with relevant laws and environmental considerations.
Check Results by Omron Ethyl alcohol No problem Methyl alcohol No problem Isopropyl alcohol No problem Trichloroethylene Problematic Acetone Problematic Toluene Problematic Water (hot water) Lead may rust under certain conditions. - Cleaning method
Perform cleaning under the following conditions unless otherwise specified by the datasheet. Contamination of the cleaning agent and flux residue may affect the optical properties of the sensor, or the material of the housing may deteriorate.
After cleaning, dry well in a place with little dust.
Immersion cleaning No problem Ultrasonic cleaning Varies depending on sensor model, PCB size, etc.
Check in advance for abnormal characteristics (e.g. disconnection).Brushing Markings may disappear or the light projection surface of reflection models may be damaged, deteriorating the performance.
Check in advance for external appearance.
