Omron at Engineering Design Show 2019

Omron Showcases Sensors for Smart Homes and Cities

Omron Electronic Components Europe is demonstrating new MEMS based sensor solutions for building automation, digital signage and other environmental monitoring applications at EDS on the 16th and 17th of October in Ricoh Arena, Coventry at stand K32. Its team will also be available to discuss the full range of PCB relays and switches.

Centerpiece of the stand will be the recently launched wide angle 32 x 32 element version of the Omron D6T MEMS Thermal Sensors, offering the widest field of view that Omron has ever delivered. The new Omron D6T-32L-01A can view across 90.0°by 90.0°, and is able to encompass a wide area such as a whole room from a single point. From the detection of abnormal temperatures in industrial equipment on the production line to monitoring of food and other temperatures in the kitchen, the D6T can make a valuable contribution to safety - identifying potential problems before they become major hazards.

Also being shown is the Omron HVC-P2, offering 10 times the recognition speed of the original. This integrated module includes a camera and an image processing board. It offers ten image sensing functions for use in digital signage, home and office automation and security applications, including body detection, face recognition, hand detection, age estimation, gender estimation and expression estimation. Results are accessible through a UART or USB interface.

Omron's 2JCIE multi-function Environmental Sensor quickly allows designers to monitor seven parameters and will also be exhibited. Omron's Environmental Sensor is available for the first time as a USB unit measuring just 14.9 x 29.1 x 7.0 mm and can monitor temperature, humidity, light, UV, barometric pressure, noise, seismic and air quality (VOC gas). The sensor can accumulate data for approximately 3 months (based on a communication frequency of once every 5 mins) and connect to multiple devices, such as smartphones, via Bluetooth 5.0.

Omron's team will also be available to discuss the company's pressure, flow, vibration and tilt sensors, as well as electromechanical relays, micro switches, MOSFET relays, DIP switches, photo-microsensors and connectors.

Sensors displayed by Omron at Stand K32 include:

D6T Thermal Sensor real time demonstration
This thermal sensor is Ideal for building automation applications, it measures the surface temperature of the objects by detecting intensity of the infrared radiation, therefore can detect occupancy even when the people are stationary. Omron is offering 4 versions:

  • 1x1 Single Eye
  • 1x8 Array
  • 4x4 Array
  • 32x32 Array NEW!

Recommended applications:

  • People detection modules
  • Building automation
  • Ventilation control
  • Home appliances

HVC-P2 real time demonstration
The Human Vision Component (HVC) is a facial recognition sensor that offers ten key image sensing functions: detection of a human face, hand or body, face recognition, gender detection and estimations of age, mood, facial pose, gaze and blink. Available with 50 deg and 90 deg FOV campera types. Easy to implement through UART or USB output.

Recommended applications:

  • Marketing equipment in retail
  • Digital signage
  • Vending machines
  • Ticketing machines
  • Security/access control

2JCIE-BL01 and 2JCIE-BU01 real time demonstration
Environmental sensor which measure temperature, humidity, light, barometric pressure, noise and acceleration in a single compact module. Comes with embedded memory for data logging and Bluetooth connectivity. Now introducing the USB type as well.

Recommended applications:

  • IoT
  • Ventilation control
  • Building automation control
  • Home monitoring

Looking forward to welcoming you!

Omron's expert staff will be available at Stand K32 to asnwer any questions and demonstrate the above sensors and more that have been designed for digital signage, building automation and factory automation.
