What is a way to damage the contact dome before its end of life?

ID: FAQE20076E

The contact dome may become deformed or damaged due to excessive external force applied or diagonal pushing of the tactile switch. Please check the operation of the tactile switch.

Since the contact dome of a tactile switch is pushed indirectly, the force is directly applied. Keeping the switch strongly pushed in may degrade the contact dome and/or damage the switch. Pressing the switch diagonally may damage the plunger and/or deform the contact dome.

Quick tips

Examples of problems caused by pressing the switch can be found on The SOLUTIONS [Operation Switch], which shows "Mechnism of failure occurrence" and"Checkpoint for prevention".
